Since 2001, their partnership has been fundamental to their success.

Who are the bristle bros?

Bay Area-based artists Josh Powell and Wythe Bowart are the Bristle Bros.  In their eleven-year painting partnership they have transformed countless public and private spaces into vibrant works of art.  Their skill and artistic inspiration have attracted diverse commissions from production companies creating arena spectaculars, to internationally touring theatre companies, city councils, art galleries, stores and private residences. Recently selected as ‘preferred artists’ by the San Francisco Arts Commission, the Bristle Bros have an ongoing public works partnership with the Bay Area’s Hayward City Council.  While large public works are the Bristle Bros’ specialty, their broad-ranging aesthetic suits all types of public spaces.

Inspired by the time-honored tradition of mural painting, the Bristle Bros have a true respect for all things hand painted and share a passion for illustration, old billboards, and poster art. Working in the public sphere they have the opportunity to share their passion and re-invigorate any community.

The Bristle Brothers are soo darn amazing. I can’t explain it. They are just the best darn painters this side of the Mississippi.
